flight. "Chicasha (sic) Highway" is todays Meridian Avenue.
the airplane took off, the engines were producing barely enough thrust
to keep the bird flying. The pilot attempted to return to the
field, but they hit the ground short and slid into this pond, one-half
mile from the end of the runway.
