North American AT-6C Texan
42-3959     14 October 1945
Mt. Magazine, Arkansas

This section of firewall and engine mount is the largest wreckage still at the site.
Jeff lends scale to the firewall section.
Some buried debris was found.  After 53 years, the canvas was still in good shape!
Sometimes you have to look very closely!
This damaged cowling was found nearly 100 feet west of the firewall.  The mystery:  It belongs to a North American B-25 Mitchell!

Mystery Solved:  The cowling belongs to TB-25J 44-30007, which crashed on 17 November 1947, killing all on board.  The two airplanes crashed in nearly the same spot, under similar circumstances.
